The 50 weight Mako cotton thread is the most popular and versatile thread. It is ideal for hand piecing and hand appliqué especially when using the needle turn method. It also perfect for machine appliqué when you want the fabric to be the feature rather than the thread – the thread looks like it “melts” into the fabric, use straight, small zig zag, and blanket stitches. Use for very detailed machine quilting with a lot of backtracking such as feathers and heavy background quilting . Perfect for quilting that creates texture when you don’t necessarily want to see the quilting lines. Use an 80/12 Sharp/Microtex, denim or top stitching needle for best results.
